Data Science & AI Director – Retail & AI Transformation | Paris, France (Hybrid) | 12-Month Contract + extension
We are currently supporting a leading retail organisation in Paris undergoing a major transformation across Data, AI and advanced analytics.
As part of a large-scale investment into AI-driven decision making, customer intelligence and enterprise automation, they are looking to engage an experienced Data Science & AI Director to lead strategic initiatives across multiple business units and oversee the evolution of their AI capabilities at enterprise scale.
This is a high-impact leadership role working closely with executive stakeholders, data teams and engineering functions to drive innovation across machine learning, GenAI and modern data platforms.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the organisation’s Data Science & AI strategy across retail operations and customer platforms
- Drive the development and deployment of AI/ML models in production environments
- Lead cross-functional teams across Data Science, ML Engineering and Analytics
- Oversee enterprise AI initiatives including GenAI, recommendation systems, forecasting and predictive analytics
- Collaborate with senior business stakeholders to align AI solutions with commercial objectives
- Define best practices for MLOps, model governance, scalability and AI security
- Support the modernisation of cloud-based data and AI platforms
- Ensure compliance with GDPR, AI governance and responsible AI frameworks
Candidate Profile
- Strong leadership experience within Data Science, AI or Advanced Analytics environments
- Proven track record delivering enterprise-scale AI initiatives within retail, e-commerce or consumer-focused organisations
- Strong knowledge of modern AI/ML ecosystems including Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch and Scikit-learn
- Experience with GenAI frameworks and LLM ecosystems including LangChain, OpenAI APIs, Hugging Face or vector databases
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms including AWS, Azure or GCP
- Experience with modern data technologies such as Databricks, Snowflake, Spark and Kafka
- Knowledge of MLOps tooling including MLflow, Kubeflow, Docker and Kubernetes
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at executive level
- French language skills are advantageous but not essential
Contract Details
- Initial 12-month contract with strong likelihood of extension
- 850-950€/DAY
- Hybrid working model with flexible remote options once onboarded
- Office based in central Paris
