We are partnering with a fast-growing renewable energy developer delivering utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across Europe. As Italy accelerates its investment in grid flexibility, storage capacity, and renewable integration, the business is seeking a Project Manager to lead the delivery of large-scale BESS projects across the Italian market.
The Role
This is a high-impact delivery role responsible for managing end-to-end execution of utility-scale BESS projects across Italy, from development handover through to commissioning and operational readiness.
You will oversee EPC contractors, grid connection partners, suppliers, and internal engineering teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This role sits at the centre of Italy’s rapidly expanding energy storage and grid modernisation landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end delivery of utility-scale BESS projects across Italy
Manage EPC contractors, OEMs, and key technical suppliers
Oversee project schedules, budgets, risk management, and reporting
Coordinate grid connection processes and local permitting requirements
Act as the main interface between development, engineering, procurement, and construction teams
Manage stakeholder relationships including DSOs, TSOs, and local authorities
Support commissioning, testing, and handover to operations teams
Ensure full compliance with Italian regulatory, safety, and grid standards
Drive project performance through proactive risk and issue management
Candidate Profile
Proven experience as a Project Manager in energy, infrastructure, or utilities
Strong background in renewable energy projects (BESS, solar, wind, or grid ideally)
Experience managing EPC contracts and large technical infrastructure builds
Familiarity with Italian grid connection and permitting processes preferred
Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills across technical teams
Ability to manage complex, multi-party delivery environments
Fluent English required; Italian language strongly preferred
Engineering or technical background advantageous
