Solutions Engineer – Grid Flexibility SaaS – Up to €100,000 + 15% Performance Bonus
Location: Germany – Remote | Full-time
We are delighted to be partnering with a rapidly growing energy technology scale-up to appoint a Solutions Engineer to support the delivery of its market-leading grid flexibility platform.
This is a customer-facing technical role, ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of software, engineering and the energy transition. You will partner with utilities, energy retailers, aggregators and flexibility providers to design, implement and optimise solutions that help balance electricity grids and unlock greater renewable integration.
The company is developing cutting-edge SaaS technology that enables distributed energy resources to participate in flexibility markets, helping grid operators improve network resilience while accelerating the transition to a low-carbon energy system.
Working closely with Sales, Product, Customer Success and Engineering, you will act as the technical expert throughout the customer journey from pre-sales discovery through implementation and ongoing optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design and Customer Engagement
- Lead technical discovery workshops with prospective and existing customers to understand business and technical requirements
- Design solution architectures that align customer objectives with platform capabilities
- Deliver technical product demonstrations, workshops and proof of concept projects
- Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer lifecycle
Implementation and Integration
- Support customers with platform deployment, onboarding and implementation
- Guide API integrations and troubleshoot technical issues during delivery
- Collaborate with customer engineering teams to ensure successful deployment into production
- Produce clear technical documentation, implementation guides and best practices
Product and Engineering Collaboration
- Translate customer requirements into actionable technical feedback for Product and Engineering
- Work closely with internal teams to improve implementation processes and customer experience
- Support feature validation, testing and continuous product improvement
- Share customer insights to help shape future product development
Pre Sales Support
- Partner with the commercial team during technical sales engagements
- Provide technical input into solution design, project scope, implementation timelines and effort estimates
- Support responses to technical questionnaires and RFPs where required
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience
- 3+ years’ experience in a Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Consultant, Technical Consultant or Solutions Architect role
- Experience working with enterprise SaaS platforms in a customer-facing environment
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, web services and software integrations
- Comfortable working directly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience supporting customer implementations from discovery through deployment
- Excellent communication, presentation and problem-solving skills
- Fluent English is essential, German language skills are highly advantageous
Desirable Experience
- Experience within the energy, utilities, renewables or climate technology sectors
- Knowledge of grid flexibility, demand response, virtual power plants, DERMS or electricity markets
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
- Experience with SQL, Python or scripting languages
- Exposure to energy communication protocols such as OCPP, MQTT or Modbus
- Previous experience working within a fast-growing start-up or scale-up environment
